10 high demanding skills in Nigeria today
The needs of a society changes as the years roll by. The increasing upwards rise of science and technology has brought about another shift in the skills most valued in our society today. The trend now shifts to the possession of profitable digital skills. More than ever, the world is becoming a global village. In Nigeria today, these digital skills are the ones in highest demand as it is no longer enough to hold a traditional degree without additionally having any of them.
1. Content development
Content developers are specialized website developers who have content generation skills such as graphic design, multimedia development, professional writing, and documentation. They can integrate content into new or existing websites without using information technology skills such as script language programming and database programming.
2. Graphics design
Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem-solving through the use of typography, photography and illustration. The field is considered a subset of visual communication and communication design, but sometimes the term “graphic design” is used synonymously. Graphic designers create and combine symbols, images and text to form visual representations of ideas and messages. They also use typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to create visual compositions. A Database Management System allows a person to organize, store, and retrieve data from a computer. It is a way of communicating with a computer’s stored memory. Database administrators use specialized software to store and organize data.
7. Social media management
Social media management is the process of managing a company’s online interactions and content across social media channels like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Pinterest. Social media management goes beyond just posting updates to the company’s social media profiles. It also includes engaging with their audience and looking for new opportunities to increase reach and visibility. Using a variety of available tools, a social media manager can assist companies to plan and analyze their social media marketing campaign. This makes them an invaluable piece to the growth and expansion of companies.
8. Project management
Project management is the practice of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria at the specified time. Project management is highly significant to the success of every organization. Therefore, Project managers face constant pressure to reduce costs, implement projects quickly, and also deliver high quality. They are the ‘thinking brain’ of any ‘project body.’

Video editing is the manipulation and arrangement of video shots. Video editing is used to structure and present all video information, including films and television shows, video advertisements and video essays. Editing is usually considered to be one part of the post-production process. It includes trimming, re-sequencing clips, adding transitions and other special effects.
